This is a review of topics belonging to Working Group 6. Recent publications on solar active phenomena, based on Yohkoh, SOHO, TRACE, and ground-based observations, are briefly summarized, starting with studies of the many changes seen in the "quiet" solar atmosphere. Non-flare variations in active regions and characteristics of active region loops are the following topics. Then flares are discussed, while filament activations and CMEs are mentioned only briefly, as they are the topic of Working Group 5. The remaining subjects are sources of slow solar wind, expanding active regions, complexes of activity, and interconnecting loops.
