TRACE
is designed to be launched on a GSFC Small Explorer (SMEX)
spacecraft with a Pegasus XL lauch vehicle into a
Sun-synchronous orbit, allowing continuous observing for 8
months of the baseline 1-year mission. For the first
time, a U.S. solar research satellite will observe the Sun
continuously without occultation by the earth for part of
every orbit.
